If you have lost one or more permanent teeth, there are several teeth replacement options that you can consider, like dentures and bridges ,but nowadays Dental Implants are the highest standard of tooth replacement option available. Whether you want to replace one tooth, or multiple teeth, implants are a functionally and aesthetically pleasing solution.

With dental implants, you can eat, drink, brush, floss and basically perform whatever function you used to with your own natural teeth. They are more secure and longer lasting. No longer do you fear that they might slip off because unlike removable dentures, they are permanently bonded to your jaw.

A Dental Implant consists of a titanium fixture (or screw) that is surgically placed into the jaw bone. Over time, this fixture integrates with the bone and becomes fixed. This fixture acts as a tooth root. A porcelain crown is constructed to be attached to this fixture.

The crown is the visible part of a tooth that is seen in the mouth.

Dental Implant therapy may span over the course of 1 – 3 months, depending on the complexity of the case. It takes time for bone to integrate with the titanium fixture, and so we will advise you on the expected time frame and appointments that you should expect.

Once Implant Therapy is complete, it must be understood that regular maintenance and review is required. A hygiene regime is advised and must be adhered to by the patient at home and regular visits to the clinic are required. Radiographs are required normally every 18months to detect any change underneath the clinically visible surface.

What are the benefits of dental implants?

  • Compared to dentures, bridges, and partials, dental implants have many benefits.
  • Implants stand alone. They do not rely on surrounding teeth or gums for support.
  • Implants require no adhesive, clasps, or abutment crowns.
  • Implants can last a lifetime with proper care.
  • Implants become part of the jaw, so they are a lifelike prosthetic.
  • Implant posts stimulate jawbone tissue, so the bone does not deteriorate.
  • Implants do not slip out of place.
  • Implants can be cared for like natural teeth – no special maintenance required.
